Environmental Specialist 4 Single Pretty much the same as the ten before: managing or overseeing the cleanup of hazardous waste sites, with a few forays into policy and rule-writing, and IT strategy planning for the Washington State version of the EPA. I'm now working out of our Yakima office, and still living in Ellensburg. In my non-work life, I'm doing a little gunsmithing, playing guitar, and working with a group developing a retreat center that's morphing into an Eco-Village. 2012-08-06 14:43:20

Substance Abuse Counselor/Social Worker Married 4 Jackie Penland I have been in the Substance Abuse field since 1995. My journey started when I was released from doing community service in an enclosed environment 07/05/1994. Ended up here in the KCMO area, started going to college studying what I knew best alcohol and drug abuse. Got my MSW degree in 2003 from KU. Started out working with teenagers did that for 10 years and now work at a company that provides services to individuals that have gotten DWI's. I thought that I had some good drink stories, but I have heard some better ones. I haved been married for over 13 years, my wife is also a Social Worker, she has 4 grown kids, and we have 7 grandkids ranging in ages from 17-9. Did not know I was going to live this long, or I would have taken better care of myself. It just seems like a few years ago it was 1969, but then I did inhale and swallow a lot booze and other stuff. I have been sober from alcohol and illeagal drugs for over 15 years. 2012-08-06 15:12:25

Fool truth-out.org/ Committed Relationship Nancy Zwieback 2014-08-29 13:22:02
After 40 years I feel irrationally compelled to account for my existence since high school. Throughout life I've been more focused on independence and freedom rather than family or career (not that they are mutually exclusive). Correspondingly, although in a long term relationship, I've never been married or had children. I hit the road after high school on numerous solo hitchhiking trips exploring North America. During those years I logged in over 20,000 miles by thumb and actually lived to tell the tale. After these adventures, there was a natural evolution into independent international travel. I've now taken extended tours of Europe, Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, India, and Nepal. During this time I was also an avid backpacker, often hiking more than 100 miles a summer pounding the trails of the American West, Appalachia, Alaska, Canada, and Nepal. These activities were supplemented by my interest in knowledge and the exploration of consciousness. I practiced Transcendental Meditation for 30 years...teaching "TM" several of those years. Eventually I graduated from K-State with a liberal arts degree which was essential in establishing an illustrious "career" as a security guard at the University of Washington art museum in Seattle. While my worldview often finds me lamenting the human condition, my personal lifestyle is more comfortable than I deserve given my modest financial achievements. We travel when we can (no more hitchhiking!), take long walks in the woods around our home on beautiful Puget Sound, and try to embrace the "good life"...whatever and wherever it may be.

So it goes...
